Wildlife Conservation Society's (WCS) An Evening at Central Park Zoo

An Evening at the Central Park Zoo, the Conservation Council's annual spring fundraiser, was held on June 10.

Co-Chaired by Elizabeth Belfer, Mary Dailey Pattee, and Diana Townsend-Butterworth, this event celebrated the opening of the Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard exhibit. The snow leopard is a beautiful, elusive animal whose home is high among Asian mountain ranges. Despite the remoteness of its habitat, the human threat to the snow leopard's survival has accelerated. Wild numbers are estimated to be between 5,000 and 7,000 individuals. The Bronx Zoo manages the largest collection of snow leopards in North America, and with the addition of the Allison Maher Stern Snow Leopard Exhibit at the Central Park Zoo, the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) is able to further its conservation efforts and increase awareness to help save these wonderful animals.

More than 600 guests gathered for the evening to enjoy cocktails, buffet dining, silent auction, and dancing under the stars. This annual event raises funds for WCS and celebrates the important role of WCS as a worldwide conservation organization, an urban oasis, source of science education, and caretaker of the world's largest system of urban wildlife parks.
