The American Cancer Society of NYC (ACS) Celebrates Festive in Flip Flops 2 -Hamptons Summer Bash

Festive in Flip Flops 2, the American Cancer Society’s Summer Bash, had a capacity crowd at the Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club.

It was a cross-section of the cable television industry power brokers including JoeAbruzzese, President, Sales, Discovery Networks; Bill Koeningsberg, Founder and CEO of Horizon Media, and his wife Jessica and David Levy, President of Turner Broadcasting and his wife Nikki and on camera talent including Susan Lucci and husband Helmut Huber, Boomer and Cheryl Eaision, B. Smith and Dan Gasby and last year’s host Mark Feuerstein with his wife Dana Klein. Stacy London was this year’s host.



Don Distasio, Eastern division President of ACS made the point, “Even as I look around at this beautiful site in this beautiful location, I am reminded that cancer does not take the summer off and neither can we.”



Sherri Abruzzese, the returning Chair, brought this fact home when she asked everyone who had a loved one or family member affected by cancer to stand and remain standing.Then, she asked those who had a friend or someone they knew affected by cancer to stand. Idea proved. Everyone was standing.



The guests included Silver Sponsors, Mary and Michael Levine, Ricky Passarelli and Joseph Smith, owners of Bobby Van’s restaurant and their wives Deena and Maria. Joining them were Kathy Disastio, Joni and Christopher Fischer, who hosted a kick-off party in their East Hampton store June 30th. Committee members present included Junior Chairs: Melissa Abruzzese and Christy Birnbaum and husband Jason. Marcy and Jordan Czeizler, Ilene and Henry Gayer, Sara and Mark Lewis and Gail Muszynski.



Robbins-Wolfe catered the three-course dinner, provinghealthy food can be tasty. The appropriately named Flip Flop Wines donated the red and white. When guests weren’t dancing, quite a few wandered down to the beach to the two barbeque-pits where they were creating S’mores, toasting marshmallows with or without chocolate and sandwiching them between graham crackers. http://www.cancer.org/
