Under the auspices of the Russian Arts Foundation, the Russian National Orchestra (RNO), celebrating its 20th Anniversary with events around the world, went to Greenwich, Connecticut to honor jazz legend Dave Brubeck.

The event, dubbed “Take Five,” transformed the chic clothing store Richards of Greenwich into a concert hall.

Marianne Wyman, a co-chair of the evening presented the Russian Arts Foundation’s prestigious Silver Baton Award to Chris Brubeck who accepted on behalf of his 90-year old father.

Then there was a first-rate jazz concert featuring two principal artists from the RNO: Vladislav Lavrik, Russia’s number one trumpet player and flautist Maxim Rubtsov as well as the Brubeck Brothers Quartet represented by Chris and Dan Brubeck and pianist Chuck Lamb.

The evening’s host Scott Mitchell, of Richards, Honorary Chair Bim Kendall, along with Sponsors and Co-Chairs including: Rita Mehos, Peter T. Paul, Barbara Roach, Richard and Jill Granoff, John Wyman, Lucy and Nat Day, Tatiana Panchenkova, Thomas Ferguson, Anne Perlin, Michael Polenske, Cristina Wyman, Mikhail Prokhorov, Irene Ioffe and Marei von Saher greeted over 150 guests.

These included: Prince Vladimir and Princess Tatiana Galitzine, Catherine Brubeck and Arne Yaghsizian, Elizabeth Stribling, Chauncie Rodzianko, Elissa Getto, Ruth and Bob Newman, Bob Pape, Bunny and Dennis Lukas, Michael Ioffe and Anita Torizzo.
