Norton Museum of Art Bal des Arts 2010
02/06/2010 - By West Palm Beach, FL

Norton Museum of Art Bal des Arts 2010

The 34th Annual Bal des Arts 2010: Black and White Ball, took place at the Norton Museum of Art on Saturday, February 6, 2010.

The highly anticipated evening celebrated the special exhibition, Avedon Fashion 1944-2000, which will be on view through May 9, 2010. Inspired by the premiering exhibition, the Bal des Arts 2010 had a black and white theme, intended to exude all the glamour and sophistication of Richard Avedon’s fashion photography.

The Bal des Arts 2010 was hosted by Chairmen Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey H. Fisher and Mr. and Mrs. William J. Soter. Over 250 guests enjoyed an exclusive preview of Avedon Fashion 1944-2000 followed by a cocktail hour in a vintage Hollywood inspired lounge setting. Guests then proceeded to a sumptuous seated dinner and dancing to the musical arrangements of Alex Donner and his Orchestra that span the eras represented in the Avedon exhibition.

Richard Avedon revolutionized fashion photography in the post- World War II era with his spirited, imaginative images of the modern woman. This spectacular exhibition will feature more than 160 works – including edition and vintage prints, contact sheets, and original magazines – created during Avedon’s long career at Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, The New Yorker, and beyond.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Norton Museum of Art’s Education and Public Programs.
