Legacy Community Health Services 9th Annual Luncheon

Legacy Community Health Service’s 9th annual luncheon was a huge success, raising over $230,000.

The Champagne luncheon held at Houston’s Wortham Center had a sellout crowd of 450, thanks to the dynamic duo of Phoebe Tudor and Ceron, who chaired the celebratory affair. Jackson Hicks was this year’s recipient of the Living Legacy Award for his exceptional support of Legacy Community Health Services over the years.

Mayor Annise Parker presented the Living Legacy Award to Hicks and declared September 20 Jackson Hicks Day in Houston. A video montage was shown celebrating Hicks, also known as the “Prince of Parties”. His professional accomplishments over the years include events from the White House, Buckingham Palace, Fortune 500 corporations, and Houston’s most distinguished not for profit organizations: the video also highlighted his commitment to community service. The montage featured congratulatory messages from President George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush, who keep Jackson on speed dial; Opera Singer Renee Fleming; Society for the Performing Arts June Christensen; Houston Grand Opera’s Patrick Summers; Houston Ballet’s C.C. Conner; and San Francisco Opera’s David Gockley.

Seen in the crowd: Legacy CEO, Katy Caldwell; Development Director, Chree Boydstun; Bobby Tudor; Milton Townsend; Lynn Wyatt; Bob Devlin; Liz Zaruba; Cynthia Petrello; Candace Dickerson; Emcee Gerome Gray; Eileen Lawal; Patti Murphy; June Christensen; C.C. Conner; Diane Lokey Farb; Kari Gonzalez; Franci Crane; Jennifer Ducote; and Debra and Mark Grierson, who were also featured on the video montage.

All proceeds from this year’s luncheon benefit Legacy’s highly regarded healthcare programs – from their maternity and pediatric services to their social and medical services for people living with HIV/AIDS. Legacy provides a comprehensive set of health and wellness programs at four different clinics in some of Houston’s most low-income neighborhoods.

Legacy Community Health Services is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization and the largest Federally Qualified Health Center in Houston. Each year they provide low-cost or no-cost healthcare services to over 20,000 Houston area men, women and children.
