Builders of the New New York Awards Gala

Thanks to all of you who joined us on June 1st, for our Builders of the *New* New York Awards gala celebration.

Looking around that night, one couldn't help but be struck by the incredible diversity of people who came together--immigrants and native born; faith and labor groups; Latinos, Asians, African and European Americans; grassroots leaders and corporate executives--all united around a shared vision of justice, fairness, and opportunity for all.

We had an amazing group of honorees--Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez, the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, and New York State Labor Commissioner Patricia Smith--all of whom work to improve the lives of immigrant New Yorkers. With performances by the Oscar-nominated youth group IMPACT Repertory Theatre opening and closing the night, it was a truly amazing evening that captured what is best about the New York Immigration Coalition.
